The SCRAMx base station acts as the middleman of the SCRAMx system and is the communications conduit that passes data between the SCRAMx bracelet and SCRAMNET. When the offender is first installed on the SCRAMx bracelet, he or she also receives the SCRAMx base station that is typically placed in the home or place of work.

The SCRAMx base station now has a wireless data communication option – SCRAMx Wireless. It allows offenders who do not have conventional land telephone lines to do remote data downloads without the need for a telephone line, cell phone, or even internet connectivity. By simply plugging an existing SCRAMx base station into a small analog-to-wireless adapter, SCRAMx Wireless becomes a turnkey wireless solution that meets the current needs of courts, agencies, service providers, and offenders.

The SCRAMx base station:

• Establishes communications with the SCRAMx bracelet at a pre-scheduled time(s) each day
• Accepts this stored data and uploads it from the SCRAMx bracelet
• Transmits this collected data to SCRAMNet for detailed review, analysis, and reporting
• Has a new wireless option that lets offenders upload their data from the SCRAMx bracelet to SCRAMNET without the need for a home phone line, internet access, or a cell phone

Why wireless?

In today’s technology-centric world, the telephone landline is quickly becoming a thing of the past. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, more than 25% of U.S. homes are now completely wireless, and that number is expected to steadily increase as individuals continue to embrace cellular technology.
